Description

Lafi Wholesale sources high-quality cashew nuts from local farmers and collectors in Burkina Faso. Native to Burkina Faso and across West Africa, the cashew tree plays an important role in regional agriculture and livelihoods. Our cashew nuts are carefully harvested from the cashew apple, then sorted and stored under controlled conditions to preserve quality and consistency.

Our cashew supply comes from producers officially recognized and approved by the Conseil Burkinabè de l’Anacarde (Burkina Faso’s National Cashew Council). This recognition supports fair compensation for farmers and producers, encourages responsible agricultural practices, and contributes to the economic development of local communities. Through this approach, Lafi Wholesale promotes sustainable sourcing while supporting social and environmental stewardship across the value chain.

In Burkina Faso, cashew nuts are traditionally enjoyed grilled, toasted, or raw, while the cashew apple is commonly consumed fresh or dried. Cashews remain a widely appreciated food across generations and communities, valued for their versatility, flavor, and role in everyday diets.

Benefits

Cashew nuts offer a rich supply of essential nutrients, including vitamins and minerals that support normal bodily functions. They are a source of beneficial fats commonly associated with balanced, heart-conscious diets, as well as dietary fiber that supports digestive health. Cashews also contain naturally occurring antioxidants and minerals such as magnesium, which play a role in normal muscle, nerve, and bone function.

When consumed in moderation, cashews can be a satisfying and nutrient-dense food that contributes to satiety and provides plant-based protein. Their versatility and nutritional profile make them a valuable ingredient in a well-rounded and balanced diet.

Application

Cashew nuts are a versatile ingredient used across a wide range of culinary applications, from snacks to prepared foods. They are commonly roasted and lightly salted for snacking, or added to salads, stir-fries, and grain dishes for texture and flavor. In baking and food manufacturing, cashews are used in cookies, bars, and confections, as well as in ground form for dairy-free alternatives such as cashew milk, spreads, and sauces.

Cashews are also widely used in global cuisines, including Indian, Thai, and West African dishes, where they contribute richness, creaminess, or crunch depending on the application. Their mild flavor and functional versatility make them well suited for both traditional recipes and modern product development.

Sustainability

Cashew trees are highly resilient and well suited to diverse climatic conditions, thriving in regions where other crops may be less viable. They require relatively low water inputs compared to many nut-producing trees, making them a more sustainable option in water-stressed areas. Cashew trees also contribute to soil health, as their extensive root systems help reduce erosion, improve soil stability, and support long-term agricultural productivity.
